Bristol School District #1 - Comprehensive School Counseling Program

A comprehensive school counseling program is essential to each student's academic achievement, personal & social development, and career & future success. It is "preventive in design and developmental in nature" and focuses on "improving student achievement and supporting student development" (ASCA, 2021)

Bristol's comprehensive school counseling program offers:

Developmental school counseling through individual check-ins or sessions, small groups, and homeroom SEL & ACP & Life Skill lessons throughout the school year.
Proactive & preventative interventions & need specific support for students.
Information to families regarding connection with community agencies & resources.
School-wide proactive and preventative activities.

The Bristol Comprehensive School Counseling program is based on the Wisconsin Comprehensive School Counseling Model (WCSCM) and the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) Students Standards: Mindsets & Behaviors.

"The ASCA Student Standards: Mindsets & Behaviors for Student Success describe the knowledge, attitudes and skills students need to achieve academic success, college and career readiness and social/emotional development. The standards are based on a survey of research and best practices in student achievement from a wide array of educational standards and efforts" (ASCA, 2021).
