2024-2025 Virtual Competition
Date: February 24, 2025
Battle of the Books (B.O.B.) is an extracurricular, competitive reading team sponsored by WEMTA (Wisconsin Educational Media and Technology Association) designed for students in grades 4-6 who LOVE to read and compete.
Practices occur in the Edward Becker Library Media Center from September through February on pre-scheduled dates (averaging twice a month; schedule coming soon).
Participants read all 20 books from the list provided by WEMTA, learn the titles and authors of each book, and are quizzed on their knowledge. The top four students selected by the teacher-coaches will compete virtually against other Wisconsin student teams in the competition in February.

How to Participate
- Start reading the list of books listed on Destiny’s homepage or visit the 2025 WEMTA Battle of the Books Elementary Division List
- Attend in-person practices
- Practice at home
- Start learning titles and authors and quiz yourself and your teammates
- Use a Battle of the Books (BOB) notebook and write down five important events from each book you read
- Bristol’s Virtual Competition Team will consist of the top four students selected by Bristol’s Battle of the Books Advisors

- September 30, 2024-Parent Meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the school library
- October 14, 2024-Practice and permission slip due!
- October 28, 2024-Practice
- November 11, 2024-Practice
- November 25, 2024-Practice
- December 9, 2024-Practice
- December 16, 2024-Quiz to help determine the top 12 participants and practice
- December 18, 2024-Top 12 students posted
- January 13, 2024-Top 12 Practice
- January 27, 2024-Top 12 Practice and announce the top 8 participants. T-shirt money is due for all students participating through December (price not yet available)
- February 3, 2025-Top 8 Practice
- February 10, 2025-Top 8 Practice
- February 18, 2025 -Top 8 Practice
- February 24, 2025-The competitive team will be the top 4 of the 8 participants competing in the Statewide online battle.
- March 10, 2025 -Party for those participating through December plus the competitive team
