Volk Field was named for Bristol School’s former head custodian, Ralph Volk, who worked for the school district in the 1970s and '80s. Ralph helped build the original softball field (northwest side of the property) before being an integral part in raising funds and other donations to build the southwest field in 1987. Ralph was an avid supporter of the school’s softball program as well as community softball programs.  He retired from the Bristol School district in 1986.

This sign has been donated by the family of Ralph Volk in memory of Ralph and his love for the game. It will be proudly displayed at the field that bears his name.
