PBIS
PBIS is our school wide behavior program. PBIS stands for positive behavior intervention and support. Our school’s initiative is to provide a safe environment that is supportive and conductive to growth. The following are the 3 basic rules that we follow:
Be Safe
Be Respectful
Be Responsible
Clip-Up Chart
In our classroom we have a chart with a clothespin for every student. On the clip-up chart are the titles: ready to learn, showing pride, role model, and outstanding. Every time a student is caught following expectations, they are asked to clip up their clothespin. Once they reach outstanding, a dot is added to their clothespin at the end of the day. For every 5 dots they earn on their clothespin, the student gets to pick a lottery ticket. Some lottery tickets say “prize“ and some say “try again”. I believe this teaches the students that they don’t always receive a prize for every good thing they do.
