Welcome Volunteers!

Volunteers give of their time freely and we are so very fortunate to have many volunteers willing to help in so many ways. There are several opportunities for adults to volunteer from home, in our classrooms helping teachers, or working directly with students. Specific details will be shared by your child's classroom teacher throughout the year about ways volunteers can help.

To ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff, it is the policy of Bristol School District #1 to conduct background checks on those adults who will be regularly volunteering, working with students unsupervised, or chaperoning or attending field trips. Guest speakers are not required to have a background check on file but must sign in as a visitor at the school office and complete the school office process.

Valid background checks are those forms run on or after July 1, 2025. These forms will remain valid through June 30, 2027 (previous school year plus the current school year).

Interested in volunteering?

  1. Guardian/Volunteer Criminal Background Check Consent forms may be uploaded as part of the registration process or printed and returned to the School Office
  2. Please do not email volunteer forms directly to the contact email listed
  3. Complete all items on the form, including "children's names and grades"
  4. Print clearly so information may be entered accurately
  5. A physical signature is required (electronic signatures will not be accepted)
  6. Please allow five or more business days for processing
  7. Submitting a form does not guarantee that a parent/guardian will be selected as a volunteer for a particular event

Check the status of your Guardian/Volunteer Criminal Background Form*:

  1. Log into your Skyward: Family Access account**
  2. Select REPORT CARD found in the navigation bar located on the left-hand side of the screen
  3. Click on the attachments named "background check - PUBLISHED FA" and wait for the report to generate
  4. Click the "View Report" button to open the 2026-2027 report
    1. A "Y" following the parent/guardian's name means there is a valid background check on file and this person is approved to volunteer
    2. A "N" following the parent/guardian's name means there is NOT a valid background check on file and this person is NOT approved to volunteer

*If using the Skyward:Family Access mobile app, be sure to choose “Desktop View”
**Volunteers not listed in Skyward: Family Access will not be able to check their volunteer status using this method.

  4. Check-in at the kiosk with a driver's license
