As voted upon at the open meeting on May 11th, the Bristol School Board did not approve the 4-year-old Kindergarten for the 2010-2011 school year. We hope to have the program available for the 2011-2012 school year. Thank you for your interest and patience as we work to make it a successful and meaningful addition to the Bristol School and Bristol Community.

And now a word from our Physical Education Department: Jump Rope for Heart All of the Bristol students in 1st - 6th grades participated in the annual Jump Rope for Heart event on April 27th. Prior to the event, students learned and practiced jumping rope both individually (short ropes) and in a group (long ropes). Many students enjoy this fun fitness activity and are encouraged to have fun jumping rope at recess and after school hours. Heart healthy exercise is an important component for leading an active healthy lifestyle. Parents, encourage your children to accumulate 60 minutes of moderate-vigorous activity each and every day. Why is Jump Rope for Heart Important? • Heart disease and stroke are America’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers • More than 9.2 million children and adolescents are considered overweight or obese. • Type 2 diabetes is on the rise in children. If current trends continue, adolescents with Type 2 diabetes may experience heart troubles beginning as young as 30 or 40. • Obesity increases a person’s risk for heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, stroke and many other chronic illnesses. (American Heart Association) 463 students participated in the event by jumping rope, while 61 of those students went the extra mile to raise funds for the American Heart Association. Thank you to all the parents that allowed their children to participate in the fundraising efforts associated with Jump Rope for Heart. You have helped raise funds that help your family, friends, and neighbors live healthier lives. Our top three fundraisers were Jaden R., Eric L., & Daniel M. The students did a great job in making the Bristol JRFH event a success.
