Renegade Resources for Parents
Tips for making E-learning successful for your child:
Keeping a structure in your child day can help make stressful times a little easier!
-
Set up a schedule with your child and stick to it! See the sample schedule as a guide if you need a starting point; start with wake-up and bed-times and fill in with appropriate activities, break times, breakfast/lunch/dinner, etc.
-
Keep your child on a consistent bedtime and wake-up time. Consistency is important so your child gets enough sleep and has the brain power to complete needed academic work
-
Set limits on screen time, discuss what would be appropriate use of screen time with your child and check-in with them often while using a tablet/phone/computer, to make sure the content they are on still meets your guidelines and expectations.
-
Create a chore list to help your child learn responsibility and see the benefits of helping the family
-
Take movement breaks. Designating work time and break time can help strengthen your child’s time management, focus and attention skills and assists with your child’s working memory!
-
Make time to go outside and play! All children in grades 4K-8 benefit from getting outdoors and exercising.
-
Take advantage of having extra time at home (if you’re off work too) and play together as a family! Positive social skills are best learned through interaction and pretend play.
